** Our knitting project has captured the imagination of the whole country!! **
WE ARE KNITTING PINK BREAST CANCER BOWS BY THE HUNDREDS TO BE USED TO ‘YARN BOMB’ AREAS OF THE COUNTY THROUGHOUT OCTOBER – BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH – WE WILL BE RAISING AWARENESS IN A VERY VISUAL WAY!! …… THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY SENT IN THEIR BOWS – WE ARE KNITTING UNTIL THE END OF AUGUST.
In recognition of breast cancer awareness month, we are looking for knitters from all over the county to help knit us hundreds of pink breast cancer bows which we will be using to yarn bomb certain locations – positions to be confirmed and more details to follow……NB all bows have to be pink – Any shade acceptable.
The pattern is simple. Using DK wool and three and a half millimeter (size 10 needles) cast on 12 stitches and knit 12 inches, using any stitch of your choice. Cast off, leaving enough wool – a tail for the bow to be sewed up and finished off. We will sew them up. You may like to knit or crochet smaller or larger ones using the following ratio, six stitches to six inches, 20 stitches to 20 inches, 50 stitches to 50 inches, etc. The more the merrier. We would be grateful if you could crochet small pink individual flowers no more than two inches in diameter.
Again, all shades of pink. On October 18th, we will be holding a very special breast cancer thanksgiving service at All Saints Church Wellingborough, where we will need even more bows, (the 12 x 12 ones). This really is an exciting community challenge, Which I hope you, your knitting group, friends will support. Can you help us please??
